چکیده

Abstract. This study employs a stochastic hydrologic modeling framework to evaluate the sensitivity of flood frequency analyses different components chain. The major chain, including model structure, parameter estimation, initial conditions, and precipitation inputs were examined across return periods from 2 100 000 years at two watersheds representing hydroclimates western USA. A total 10 structures configured, calibrated, run within Framework for Understanding Structural Errors (FUSE) modular each watersheds. Model parameters conditions derived long-term calibrated simulations using member historical meteorology ensemble. event-based workflow was developed models in which millions event performed basin. analysis variance method then used quantify relative contributions parameters, magnitudes periods. Results demonstrate that chain have sensitivities Precipitation contribute most rare floods, while are influential more frequent events. However, hydrological structure structure–parameter interactions together play an equally important role specific cases, depending on basin characteristics type metric interest. highlights importance critically assessing underpinnings, understanding generation processes, selecting appropriate consistent with our processes.

Hydrologic Modeling System (hec-hms):

Many cities have been built along large rivers. The rivers can provide a source of drinking water, act as receiving water for treated effluent, provide navigation for shipping, and other beneficial uses. However, the city must also be protected from flooding due to the close proximity to the river. Hydrologic analysis plays a crucial role in the development of plans for protecting a river city....

Flood Forecasting System Using Weather Radar and a Distributed Hydrologic Model

The nature is composed of infinite process, and each process is surely deterministic (out of mention for the micro process on the level of quantum physics, which is under the uncertainty principle of Heisenberg, 1927), but affected by uncountable number of factors. What we are trying to do with modeling is to find the most dominating factors on a process and to simplify the process with an unde...

Flood hazard mapping in an urban area using combined hydrologic-hydraulic models and geospatial technologies

Flooding is one of the most occurring natural hazards every year risking the lives and properties of the affected communities, especially in Philippine context. To visualize the extent and mitigate the impacts of flood hazard in Malingon River in Valencia City, Bukidnon, this paper presents the combination of Geographic Information System, high-resolution Digital Elevation Model, land cover, so...

Flood Control Reservoir System Design Using Stochastic Programming

Mathematically a natural river system is a rooted directed tree where the orientations of the edges coincide with the directions of the streamflows. Assume that in some of the river valleys it is possible to build reservoirs the purpose of which will be to retain the flood, once a year, say. The problem is to find optimal reservoir capacities by minimizing total building cost eventually plus a ...
